What’s the fee for making cash payments?

There’s a $2 convenience fee for each cash payment to your Self Credit Builder Account, charged at the point of sale.

Is there a limit to how much I can pay in cash?

Cash payments can range from $1 to $500. If you want to make a payment greater than $500, you must make another transaction. The additional transaction will carry an additional $2 fee. You cannot pay more than your balance.

I generated a barcode but it doesn’t work. What should I do?

Barcodes are available for only 15 minutes after generation. If yours timed out and no longer works, try generating a new one.

Why don’t I see the cash payment feature in my account?

For now, this payment option is limited to existing eligible customers whose Credit Builder Account is issued by either our Lead Bank N.A., Member FDIC or Sunrise Banks N.A., Member FDIC bank partners. Secondly, the option to make cash payments is only available in the Self mobile app. If you are logged into your account on desktop or website view, you will not see it. The Self app is free to download on iOS or Android.

Can I cancel or refund a cash payment made to Self?

All payments made in cash to Self through one of our participating retailers are final and nonrefundable.

When will my cash payment post to my Self account?

When you make a cash payment to your Credit Builder Account through one of our participating retailers, the payment should reflect in your Self app within a few minutes. You should know almost immediately if your payment was successful and receive a receipt from the cashier upon completion.

Can I use cash to pay my Self Visa® Credit Card?

No, we are not able to accept cash payments to the Self Card at this time.
